|This year will be my 5th riding for the Arthritis Foundation with team Cycling4Fun (new members always welcome). In celebration of my fifth year of riding, I have set a goal to raise $5,000, my highest fundraising goal to date. I hope you will consider supporting my efforts with a donation that has the number 5 in it somewhere. Your donation is tax deductible and any amount will make a difference. |
Why do I continue to do the bike tour? My mother (whose hands you can see above) has been struggling with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) for 25 years. At the time she was diagnosed, the treatments available for RA were quite limited. As a result, the disease has wreaked havoc on most of her joints, causing permanent destruction and deformation. The good news is that the Arthritis Foundation has supported research into new treatments and there are many great options for people being diagnosed today so that they will never experience the same kind of deformation and destruction.
The great strides made in arthritis research/treatment as well as provision of direct services to those with arthritis by the Arthritis Foundation has been made possible by the support of individuals like you and me.
The Arthritis Foundation is the largest national nonprofit organization solely dedicated to the prevention, control and cure of arthritis, the nationís leading cause of disability. They serve 50 million men, women and children in the US affected by arthritis.
If you don't know anyone with arthritis, you might be surprised to learn that it isn't just an "old person's" condition. 2/3 of people with arthritis are under 65-years-old, including children.
Thank you for supporting the Arthritis Foundation, Great West Region. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
